Congratulations on this special day Colonel.
Fathers are essential to the upbringing of children (so are mothers, but that's for another discussion). The best fathers give their children confidence, they protect and support them and teach them how to be independent adults. Many of us, did not have the best and went looking for our role models and mentors elsewhere and that's okay. Just remember that if you are given the opportunity and blessing to be a father, be the best possible father you can. If that's not your role in life, can you be a mentor and role model to someone else who needs one?

Good evening my friend and sister-in-Christ Lt Col Charlie Brown.
Heavenly Father, YOU created one of us in YOUR image. As such we as parents love our children no matter what they do or don’t do. We like YOU have pride when our children accomplish something honorable from graduation to promotion to marriage and to child birth and rearing in the love and admonition of the LORD.
Help us to rejoice with those who rejoice without envy.
I pray that YOU strengthen the bonds between husband and wife for each of YOUR adopted children. Help us to role model love, parenting, trustworthiness, compassion and wisdom to our children throughout our lives. I pray that YOU will ensure that when we fall short our children do not needlessly suffer. Help us to role model repentance and forgiveness by YOUR grace.
I pray that YOU will sovereignly protect the graduations and graduation celebrations throughout this school year.
By the power and authority of the Name above all names, Jesus the Christ.

COL Mikel J. Burroughs Fatherhood is a special thing. Today as you celebrate your daughter’s success take a minute to reflect on these four simple yet powerful words and I think you will really appreciate the true blessings of being a Father. “OUR FATHER IN HEAVEN”

I never lost sight of the fact that my Dad gave me everything that he could, and that has stayed with me all these years as I give to my family just to have them in my life.

You said it Marty. I still have my older daughter's graduation in May 2019 and then my youngest into a four year university and beyond. There is never a dull moment in the life of three daughters. LOL. Have a great Sunday Maj Marty Hogan

I think the problem has been that we don't teach our children what their role as children is within the Dynamics of the family, and how important that role is to the how stable the family could be even taking out the trash is important to the family. Parents don't have the time because both parents are working or a single parent, or don't know how to explain it in a way that the children understand importance of their role. I also think that some parents tell their kids "to not let anybody tell you what to do", and when they go to school the kids tell the teachers that their parents told them not to let anybody tell them what to do. The result is the kids do not learn because of the mixed message.
