Good Tuesday Morning December 3, 2019 my RP friends!
In the study of space, The Universes' many Galaxies are a phenomena unto themselves... As you know, Our Earth is but one speck of dust in size when compared with Our Milky Way Galaxy... but what about the sizes of Galaxies? They certainly cannot be as large as our Milky Way, can they?
Well, I've provided a very interesting Video which will give you some idea of the sizes of galaxies as we know them now... This is by no means the entire universe of galaxies, but only the relative sizes compared to one another from the smallest one to the largest one as shown in this video... Distances are shown in LIGHT YEARS and for those who do not yet know what a LIGHT YEAR is/means... Let me explain:
A LIGHT YEAR is the distance Light travels in one Earth year..,aka; 365 days.
The speed of light in a vacuum is 186,282 miles per second (299,792 kilometers per second), and in theory nothing can travel faster than light. In miles per hour, light speed is, well, a lot: about 670,616,629 mph. If you could travel at the speed of light, you could go around the Earth 7.5 times in one second. IF measured in metric terms it is this set of measurements:
"The speed of light in vacuum, commonly denoted c, is a universal physical constant important in many areas of physics. Its exact value is 299792458 metres per second." Wikipedia
Astronomical units per day: 173
Miles per second: 186,000
Miles per hour: 671,000,000
Metres per second: 299792458
Kilometres per hour: [login to see]
Parsecs per year: 0.307
From Sun to Earth (1 AU): 8.3 min
So in this video the diameter of any galaxy is given in LIGHT YEARS, but could have been given in PARSECS... In any case, the distances are absolutely mind boggling!!!

Can you imagine how long it take to drive that distance in a car or how much gas would be consumed. It is mind boggling.
