Wow, my friend Lt Col Charlie Brown that is a bizarre position for any normal human to take. Of course LeBron is a overpaid for endorsements cry-baby it seems :-)

His statement Monday October 14, 2019 night is an example of the log in his eye as he attempts to remove a splinter in Houston Rockets executive Daryl Morey's eye for siding with the Honk Kong protestors for democracy "We all talk about this freedom of speech, yes, we all do have freedom of speech but at times there are ramifications for the negative that can happen when you’re not thinking about others and you’re only thinking about yourself," James said on Monday night. (emphasis added)

"NBA super star Lebron James has declared himself "King James," ever since entering the league. Yet on Monday night he made it apparent that he actually bows down to the Chinese Communist Party. Just when it finally looked as if the media cycle was moving past the NBA's kowtowing to China after numerous league players and coaches condemned Houston Rockets executive Daryl Morey for tweeting a picture in support of Hong Kong protesters last week, Lebron decided to enter the fray by saying that Morey was selfish and uneducated for voicing his support for democracy.
"We all talk about this freedom of speech, yes, we all do have freedom of speech but at times there are ramifications for the negative that can happen when you’re not thinking about others and you’re only thinking about yourself," James said on Monday night. (emphasis added)

This is an interesting story as speaks to foreign social economics, big business, freedom of speech, standing behind your belief and U.S. political positions.

It all boils down to money. If the NBA does not back down, they lose lucrative contracts in China.
If they do do back down, it is used as leverage in the tariff stand off.
Social impact is minimal, as we will continue to buy China products.
As a society we have a 10 minute attention span. Then it’s out of sight out of mind. On to the next story.

This is what you get when you have the masses lining the pockets of self absorbed, uneducated athletes who then think their fame (or infamy) equals knowledge and wisdom.

Lebron, of course, is not the only athlete supporting the Chinese communists against the protestors in Hong Kong. He does so because it benefits him financially and it is what his handlers tell him to think and say.

He is not the only one ignoring the concentration camps, the mistreatment of those with a religious belief, killing political dissidents and hosts of other human right violations. Not to mention slave labor, stealing trade secrets and intellectual property, unfair trade practices, currency manipulation and a host of other economic crimes. You could also roll in their record on the environment which is atrocious as well.

None of that matters, keep them cheap Nike's coming and all is good.

Well said Cpl Jeff N. There are a million reasons to condemn China's behavior and only one to endorse it.
