Thanks for reminding us SGT John " Mac " McConnell as a baby Boomer who played in the streets until dark and watched black and white TV which had test patterns every night I remember my childhood.
I was born in 1956 in Philadelphia, PA.
Street hockey with golf clubs, whiffle ball on the streets and touch/tackle football on the blacktop, gaming for baseball cards by playing flipping the cards tended to be disappointing for me.
To be honest, the video seems to be something developed by the public sector unions which faults parents and even children and lifts up the "plight" of the teachers.
Using the Soviet model was in keeping with liberal educators;
As expect the teachers unions and higher educators switched within a couple generations dumbed down the system so that everybody was supposed to succeed.

Stephen, Your 10 years younger. We didn't get a black and white TV until when you were born and then it was snow most of the time until shows started. In those days, we played outside until dark - kick the can, stick baseball, hide and seek, etc. No drugs problems in those days. Although you we only 1 yrs old when Sputnick was launched 4 October 1957. I spent many a night watching the sky for when it would come over. I guess I was "night"-dreaming. When it was first launched, the entire neighborhood (adults and kids) spent a week standing in the street watching for its passing.

Great stuff indeed ! I remember collecting baseball and football trading cards with that stick of gum in the package. Although my older brother's saw more, I was the baby of the family born in 1959. My brother still has his collection of baseball card that spans the early 1960's to near the end of the 70's. These are complete sets. Thanks for Sharing LTC Stephen F. , Maj Bill Smith, Ph.D. , and SGT Gregory Lawritson

SGT Gregory Lawritson and Maj Bill Smith, Ph.D. Interesting that you mentioned marbles. Gregory, I am sorry that yours are gone. My grandparents provided me and my cousins with marbles that they kept in several gallon jars. When my grandmother passed away a few years ago, there was almost a fight over the marbles, then we found out that there was a jar of marbles for each of us. A couple of us had to change jars when we had found that she had written our names on the inside of the lids. Thinking about that, there was also a disagreement between the girls about grandma's and great grandma's button collections.
As far as slingshots were concerned, my two youngest uncles made sure that we (my cousins and I) were provided with lead balls to shoot with so we wouldn't be tempted to use either marbles or ball bearings.

Guilty as charged. Lol. They forgot one big aspect of Baby Boomers. The all volunteer military. Everyone said it would never work. They forgot our heroes were out Dad's, Uncle's, Grandfather's and yes sometimes our Mom's, and Auns.
