Thank you, my friend SGT (Join to see) for reminding us that on November 10, 1954 the "Marine Corps War Memorial" was unveiled in Arlington County, Virginia.
The memorial is east of Arlington National Cemetery and northeast of the eastern entrance to Fort Myers. I have passed by that memorial hundreds of times on my way to Fort Myer.
Fort Myer was combined with adjoin USMC Henderson Barracks to be renamed Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall in October 2009 as a result of the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC).
