Thomas Sowell: Common Sense in a Senseless World

One of my favorite Sowell quotes gets to the heart of economics. “There are no solutions, only trade-offs,” he once said in an interview.
These trade-offs are becoming abundantly clear to all of us during the pandemic response. For example, in imposing orders meant to “save just one life” from COVID-19’s worst effects, policymakers have sacrificed other lives—including, tragically, the lives of young people who are at the least risk from the coronavirus.

LTC Stephen F. Professor Sowell must be chagrined that his research and conclusions have been ignored by the, ‘we will do gooders’. I understand his conclusions regarding education and minimum wages are that the ‘politicians and so-called leaders’ of the Black community desire victims rather than successes.
