It seems very appropriate that the woman who was kissed on Times Square on VJ Day in 1945 should be buried in Arlington National Cemetery, next to her late husband, Dr. Misha Friedman SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL.
I am certain that when Greta Friedman went to Times Square amid reports that the war had ended she had no idea that she would be part of iconic photograph that captured the joy of so many who survived WWII.
Kudos to Nurse Greta Zimmer Friedman and US Navy sailor George Mendonsa!
