Good morning, Rallypoint. Today's Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) is titled "Saturn the Giant." Apollo 4 was launched fifty-two years ago today, and was the first full system test of the Saturn V vehicle: structural integrity, compatibility of rocket and spacecraft, heat shield and thermal seal integrity, overall reentry operations, launch loads and dynamic characteristics, stage separation, and rocket subsystems. Testing also included both support facilities and operations. All mission objectives were achieved. I was growing up in Nebraska at the time, and my dad had a trip to Vietnam in his future. Where were you?

The History continues to be made as our venture into space continues with time. This Historical event is one of the more exciting in our History... I was able to find an adjunct High Quality - Apollo 8 Saturn V Rocket Launch in a short clip which has had over 4.7 million views on YouTube! It is part of a longer video, but this clip is the most important!
