Good morning, Rallypoint. Today's Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) is titled "Spitzer's Orion." NASA launched its Spitzer Space Telescope into orbit around the Sun in 2003. Since then, Spitzer has been lifting the veil on the wonders of the cosmos, from our own solar system to faraway galaxies, using infrared light. Today's image was taken in 2010, and was constructed from data intended to monitor the brightness young stars in the Orion Nebula. These stars are thought to be only about 1 million years old, compared to the Sun's age of 4.6 billion years. The image spans approximately 40 light years and lies about 1,500 light years distant.

An astronomically gorgeous section of the Cosmos Maj William W. 'Bill' Price!!! The more I see, the more excited I get about all of the possibilities that exist! Ergo, I found an awesome short video of the Orion Nebula through Spitzer's infrared vision and toward the end is overlayed with the same area, but from the Hubble Space Telescope..., which is an amazing segment of space! Enjoy!
