The Colonel's Motivational Quotes of the Day and Week!

Good Friday morning Col Burroughs and remember and pray for the safety of all those deployed. Those who are deployed/deploying are in the forefront of my thoughts today; we are doing workshops this weekend for a deploying guard unit. Yesterdays' was for a active duty communications squadron.

We get frustrated with others when they do things that don't make sense to us. And often times we end up yelling at them or responding in some other emotional way. That rarely changes someone's behavior and certainly does nothing to change their mind. What does have an impact is reasoning and rational discourse. As you think it through to explain and clarify you do the same for yourself. It also works to have someone explain their point of view...sometimes it changes because they can hear it when they say it. Don't look for ways to justify an emotional response, look for sensible reasoning.

“Reasoning Day!” seems very reasonable - pun intended :-)
1. Inductive and deductive reasoning skills are foundational to logic
a. Deductive reasoning, or deduction, starts out with a general statement, or hypothesis, and examines the possibilities to reach a specific, logical conclusion
b. Inductive reasoning makes broad generalizations from specific observations. Basically, there is data, then conclusions are drawn from the data. This is called inductive logic.

I pray LORD that each one of YOUR adopted sons and daughters is growing in grace and wisdom. I pray for courage for citizens of this and other nations were radicals and anarchistic socialists are threatening the integrity of families and faith in God as foundations of society. Give each of us endurance and confidence in YOU. Give us courage in the face of risk of physical death for our hope is in YOU. 'Have no fear of them, nor be troubled, but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you.' LORD I lift parents to you and pray that YOU bless as many as possible with a hunger to understand and apply reasoning and logic. I pray that we demonstrate the application of logical reasoning to our children of any age. Thank YOU, LORD for the expansion of home school education in the USA, Mexico, Canada, UK, India, Australia and New Zealand. I am grateful that many home school curriculums are Christian faith based. I pray that most of those raised in the admonition of the LORD and educated by faith-based teaching and faithful in faith teachers are YOU future elected sons and daughters. ‘Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not depart from it.’ [Proverbs 22:6 ESV]
I pray that many if not most school district administrators and teachers in the USA, Mexico, Canada, UK, France, Germany, Israel, India, South Korea, Australia, Philippines, Japan, and New Zealand are either developing logic and reasoning curriculum of expanding that curriculum from early grade school through high school. I pray that logic is part of the science, math, language, and any faith instruction and an effort is made to instruct students how to reason and apply logic.
