Today’s Message is: “Protect Day!” Why Not?
“Great leaders know how to protect their team. They set high standards and set the appropriate expectations. Leaders know how important of an asset the team is to the overall mission and vision. They will always push the envelope, but manage risk for those under their care. Are you willing to protect, nourish, and encourage others through hard times, failures, and difficulty?” — COL (Ret) Mikel Burroughs

Protect...an interesting concept. We all want to protect those we love but we have to be careful not to smother independence in our children in the process. Some scrapes and bruises, failures and disappointments build resilience and determination to achieve. Too smooth a road doesn't prepare them for real life. I see that quite frequently. On the other hand I also see those who are unable to protect themselves who need protection from others and they should get it without question. The very young, the oldest, the ill, and some with significant challenges all need our protection. Generally speaking those of us who have served have a natural inclination to protect others whether it is our family, friends, battle buddies or our country. Thank you for what you do!

I pray for sound judgement, compassion, and insight on what to gracefully stand up for each one of YOUR adopted sons and daughters who reads or listens to this prayer. Guide each of us to pray for who and what we need to and motivate prayer warriors to intercede in Spiritual Warfare. I thank YOU for the defensive armor of God and the offensive Sword of the Spirit which YOU store in the soul of each of us and draw it forth through us whenever we need it. Enable us to wield YOUR Word respectfully with grace and demonstration of love to each we interact with. By YOUR grace YOU fight the battles on our behalf in the heavens. YOU store YOUR Word in the soul of each of us and draw it forth through us whenever we need it and well as when others need to see YOUR Word demonstrated by love. ‘For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.’ [Hebrews 4:12 ESV]
I pray for courage and endurance for deployed service members, police men and women, investigators, EMT personnel, medical triage and other focused on defending our nation and protecting citizens, visitors, and others as well as their family members to YOU dear LORD. I pray that YOU bless each with endurance in doing good, sufficient strength to perform their duties, and moral courage to stand up for what is right, noble and true. 'Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoiced in hope of the glory of God. Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. [Romans 5:2-5 ESV]
I lift the adopted sons and daughters who are prone to worry and get anxious about what the future has in store for them and those they love, depend upon and who depend upon them to YOU. I pray that YOU remind each that YOU are in complete control of their lives and YOUR love covers them and protects them. ‘Therefore, do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Therefore, do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.’ Matthew 6:31-34 ESV]
LORD, I lift the elected representatives of the United States House of Representatives, their staff members, YOU especially Speaker of the House Representative Kevin McCarthy; Majority Leader Rep. Steve Scalise; Majority Whip Rep. Tom Emmer, Republican Conference Chairman Rep. Elise Stefanik; Republican Policy Committee Chairman Rep. Gary Palmer; Minority Leader Rep. Hakeem Jeffries; Minority Whip Rep. Katherine Clark; Democratic Caucus Chairman Rep. Pete Aguilar and Assistant Democratic Leader Rep. James Clyburn to YOU. I pray that the congressmen and congresswomen will find common cause and work in good faith together. ‘Whatever you do, work at it with your whole being, for the Lord and not for men, because you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as your reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. Whoever does wrong will be repaid for his wrong, and there is no favoritism.' [Colossians 3:23-25 ESV]
I lift the Chief Justice and associate justices of the United States Supreme Court and the Capital Police members to YOU. I pray that YOU bless the capital police members with endurance and eyes to see as they protect each of those they are charged with protecting. I pray for safety, security, and wisdom for the justices as they listen to and weigh the arguments. ‘While I was with them, I kept them in your name, which you have given me. I have guarded them, and not one of them has been lost except the son of destruction, that the Scripture might be fulfilled.’ {John 17:12 ESV]
I pray that you and your family members sleep well Monday night and that you will each awake refreshed and healthy on Tuesday morning.
By the power and authority of the Name above all names, Jesus the Christ.

Topic: Protect Day
Protect and serve is the motto of many police forces in lands were people tend to have freedom and exercise responsibility.
Doing what is right, noble and true can be costly to reputation, friendship and resources.
It takes courage of conviction to consistently do the right thing.
1. I am a prayer warrior by God's grace. God has used my prayers many times as HE healed sick, injured, depressed, and disheartened people.
2. As an Army officer I focused on being a servant leader. My experience as an enlisted combat engineer, my training as a USMA cadet forged servant leadership into me along with motto of my alma mater USMA, West Point 'Duty, Honor, Country.' Later I learned the this was biblical.
3. My adult sons were challenges as children [iron sharpens iron]. I did my best to demonstrate sacrificial love, moral courage, selfless service, and faith in Christ. I am thankful that as my sons have matured, they are demonstrating sacrificial love, moral courage, and selfless service. The LORD told me in October 2008 that each of my four sons will be saved. I encourage them to investigate and explore and test what they read or hear. I have instructed them in logic - inductive and deductive reasoning
Quotes:
1. Edwin Louis Cole 'Boundaries are to protect life, not to limit pleasures.'
2. Ellis Peters 'To have faith in Divine protection is good, but even better if backed by the practical assistance heaven has a right to expect from sensible mortals.'
3. John MacArthur 'Duty, Honor, Country - Those three hallowed words reverently dictate what you ought to be, what you can be, what you will be. They are your rallying points: to build courage when courage seems to fail; to regain faith when there seems to be little cause for faith; to create hope when hope becomes forlorn."
4. Andrew Johnson 'Honest conviction is my courage; the Constitution is my guide'
5. Maya Angelou 'Courage is the most important of all the virtues because without courage, you can't practice any other virtue consistently.'
Scriptures:
a. 1 Peter 3:15b-16 ESV ‘always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame.’
b. James 5:11 ESV ' Behold, we consider those blessed who remained steadfast. You have heard of the steadfastness of Job, and you have seen the purpose of the Lord, how the Lord is compassionate and merciful.
c. Isaiah 1:17-20 ESV 'learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow’s cause. “Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool. If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land; but if you refuse and rebel, you shall be eaten by the sword; for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”
d. Ephesians 6:10-18 ESV 'Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication.'
e. Colossians 2:18-19 ESV ‘Let anyone disqualify you, insisting on asceticism and worship of angels, going on in detail about visions, puffed up without reason by his sensuous mind, and not holding fast to the Head, from whom the whole body, nourished and knit together through its joints and ligaments, grows with a growth that is from God.’
f. Malachi 4:6 ESV 'He will turn the hearts of fathers to their children and the hearts of children to their fathers.'
h. Ephesians 4:15-16 ESV ‘Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.'
i. Psalm 68:4-6 ESV 'Sing to God, sing praises to his name; lift up a song to him who rides through the deserts; his name is the LORD; exult before him! Father of the fatherless and protector of widows is God in his holy habitation. God settles the solitary in a home; he leads out the prisoners to prosperity, but the rebellious dwell in a parched land.’
j. James 1:2-4 'Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.'
k. Psalm 23:1-6 ESV 'The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever.’
